John Drake's Mission: Infiltrate a group of rebels intent on assassinating a visiting Head of State and put a stop to their plans.
What an episode! The Hired Assassin is jam-packed with action, suspense, and drama. I'm not really sure how director Charles Frend and screenwriters Ralph Smart and John Roddick were able to fit so much into 25 minutes. This is one that could have easily filed an hour time slot. The episode jumps right into the action and doesn't let up until the final scene. It's a very tight script that allows for nothing that doesn't add to the plot. And Drake actually takes a bullet toward the end, adding to the realism and enjoyment. Overall, The Hired Assassin unquestionably deserves my 9/10 rating.
