Honey West "The Gray Lady" #1.13 (1965) (TV)

Honey and the Jewel Thief, 2 July 2015

To help restore her reputation, Honey must capture a jewel thief who got away on their first encounter.

While The Gray Lady is decent enough, it does have some glaring problems that are worth mentioning. There are a couple of scenes in particular that are poorly done. The first is the scene where Honey is repelling down the side of the building. It looks so phony. There is no sign of physical exertion on any of Anne Francis' close-ups. Second, the final fight scene is really hurt by a horrible looking double for Francis. I'm not even sure it was a woman. These may seem like trivial things, but they really hurt The Gray Lady. That's not to say it's all bad. The things I liked: the final twist at the end is nicely handled, Honey in her sleek black cat burglar outfit, and Cesare Danova (love this guy in everything I've ever seen him in). Overall, a 6/10 seems about right.

For this installment of Name That Character Actor, I'm going with Danova (no surprise). From Viva Las Vegas to Animal House to what seems to have been every television show made in the 70s/80s, Danova was always good.

6/10
